Edward Starr, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001. Ed was born December 19, 1922 in Bates County, MO to George and Goldie (Siefers) Starr. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Starr was employed for 34 years, by the Missouri Pacific Railroad/Union Pacific Railroads before retiring 27 years ago as Foreman of the shops at Neff Rail Way Yard. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Addie (White) Starr; son Kenneth Starr and wife Mickey; daughters Cheryl Smith, Peggy Keller and husband Lon; sister Peggy Kuhlman and husband George; sister-in-law Wilma Starr; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
