Doris Jean Steele

Doris J. Steele, 75, Independence, MO passed away Feb. 19, 2007. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Heart Assoc.
Doris was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Lexington, MO. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at the Sermon Center, and a member of the Jolly Lamplighters.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband William K. Steele, granddaughter Tonia Dodson, five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by son Ken Steele and wife Teresa, Springfield, MO; daughter Pat Dodson; sons Rick Steele and wife Evelyn; Jim Steele and wife Sheila, all of Independence, MO; brother Luther Crowe and wife Caroline, Lakeside, AZ; step-sister Bert Stephenson, Lexington, MO; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
