Veda Virginia Steen (Anderson)

Veda Virginia Steen, 90, Longwood, FL, formerly of Buckner, MO, passed away Aug. 15, 2015. Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the First Baptist Church of Buckner, 131 S. Hudson St, Buckner, MO 64016; interment at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6–8 pm, Monday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Veda was born April 20, 1925 in Gamilia, AR and was a long-time resident of Buckner until moving to Florida to live with her daughter, Carolyn, two years ago. She and her husband, Roy, owned Evans Orchard in Buckner for several years. She later went to work for Harmons Electronics Co. and retired from there in 1995. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Buckner. She loved to travel and had many trips through Europe and throughout the USA. She was very devoted to her family. Veda was preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Steen and infant daughter Barbara Kay Steen.. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Johnson, Longwood, FL; Debra Vankirk, Lowry City, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
