June Catherine Stegge, 86, of Kansas City. MO, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away on Feb. 24, 2008 at Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed., Feb. 27, 2008 at 10 am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit, Rd., Independence, MO; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Tuesday, Feb. 26 with the Rosary recited at 7:30 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W. 87th St., Ste. 100, Overland Park, KS 66212; Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1000 Cancer Fund or St. Mark’s Parish.
June was born May 21, 1921 in St. Louis, MO to James and Grace (Mocklin) Grey. She graduated form the Sisters of Mercy Convent Boarding School in St. Louis, MO in 1939 after living at the school for 12 years. She married Gene L. Stegge on Sept. 30, 1942 and moved to Independence, MO shortly after and has lived in the Kansas City area since then. June worked for the IRS at the KCMO Service Center for more than 20 years and retired in 1980. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Parish since 1984, a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1000, the DAV Auxiliary, and American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post #21 Auxiliary.
June was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her parents and her brother, James. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jan Price and her husband Michael, Kansas City, KS; Shirley Pippin and husband Clarence, Norman, OK; Robert Stegge and wife Frances, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Matthew Hunter, Karen Tillery and husband Waylon, Charles Pippin and wife Michelle, Anne Baker and husband Michael, Robert Stegge, Stephanie Kern and husband Danny, Michael Stegge; and seven great-grandchildren.
She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
