People can be admired for different reasons. With the passing of Steve Cable on May 5th, 2025, his family and friends will always admire Steve’s ability to make the most of what life gave him.
He started his life April 9th, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. He attended Truman High School and became an Eagle Scout. He then went on to graduate from Southern Methodist University. After graduation he started his career in the automotive industry in the family business of Cable Chevrolet. He was active in the business, in the community with Rotary and playing golf and tennis at the various clubs. He and his wife of 50 years, Renee, also loved to travel. They had many fun family trips with their children, Anne and Tom.
Unfortunately his life took a different turn and he was afflicted with progressive MS. With the help of his supportive family he made the necessary adjustments. He eventually lived in The Villages of Jackson Creek for 17 years. One of his lifelong hobbies was photography and his walls were covered with his beautiful and artistic photos.
He is survived by his wife, Renee; son, Tom (Erin Knox) Cable; daughter, Anne (Brian) Benckler; 3 loved grandchildren; sister, Cindy (Marty) Cavanah; extended family and many dear friends. Steve is preceded by his parents, Lowell Eugene and Joanne Cable.
There will be a private family service at the end of the month.
If you would like to honor Steve, the family would appreciate donations made to: MS Achievement Center 3599 Rainbow Blvd Kansas City, Kansas. 66160
