Harold G. Stevenson, 76, of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial gathering from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at 2:30 p.m., in Mt. Washington Cemetery Mausoleum. Harold was born December 20, 1933 in Bay City, MI to John and Sarah (Ellis) Stevenson, but was raised by Clark Nitschky and his mother, Sarah. He had worked for a number of years for the Ford Motor Company at the Claycomo Plant until he retired as supervisor of the paint department. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and swimming. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Sugar Creek and the UAW local #249 in Kansas City, MO. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Zella (Cantrell) for over 28 years until she passed away on June 21, 2009. Survivors include; a daughter, Pam Stevenson of Independence, MO; a step son, Jerry Greer of Chillicothe, MO; a step daughter, Debbie Parrish of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Lynne Terrell of Bay City, MI; 2 brothers, Patrick Nitschky of Bay City, MI and Frederick Nitschky of Oscoda, MI; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and his loving dog Lucy of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jill Ann Lynch in 2006, a stepdaughter, Dana Hansen in 2004, and 2 brothers, George W. Stevenson in 2009 and Clark Nitschky, Jr.
