Harry John Stewart, 62 of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Messiah Lutheran Church 613 S. Main St., Independence, MO 64050. Cremation to follow services. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Donations may be made in his name to the Messiah Lutheran School. Harry was born May 20, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to Harry Joseph and Margaret Frances (Fletcher) Stewart. Throughout his life he acquired two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree and used his knowledge and training as an entrepreneur. He enjoyed collecting historical items, genealogy, working on his lake house, landscaping and other outdoor activities. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Son’s of the American Revolution. He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona of the home; 2 daughters, Anna Bishop (Jared) Of Independence, MO and April Leffert (David) of Belton, MO; a son, Harrison Stewart of Chico, CA; a brother, Mike Stewart of Independence, MO; a sister, Jo Keller (Jerry) of Buckner, MO; 3 grandchildren, Tessa Bishop, James Leffert and Jacob Leffert and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Judi Leavitt in 1985 and a granddaughter, Madeline Leffert in 2003.
