RAYMOND L. STEWART

Raymond L. Stewart, 69, Independence, MO died unexpectedly Nov. 23, 2011. Services will be at 10 am, Monday, Nov. 28 at the Glendale Branch, 17803 E. Susquehanna Ridge, Independence, MO 64056; interment at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm, Sunday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.

Raymond was born Feb. 2, 1942 in Ellston IA and graduated from Mt. Ayr High School. He had worked for Hy Vee Stores for over thirty years – most recently at the Raytown store. He was a member of the church and was a Priest. He was known as a fix-it man who had worked as a transmission mechanic in his earlier years. He was also a collector of many different types of memorabilia: John Deere, Miami Dolphins, NASCAR, and Coca Cola. He enjoyed trips to Branson, MO to hear the Presley Mountain Music shows. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called him “Papa”. He was a quiet and thoughtful man.

Raymond is survived by his wife of forty-nine years Barbra Stewart, of the home; son Gene Stewart and wife Susan, Independence, MO; daughter Barbara Leanne Marshall and husband Jason, Alexandria, VA; son Derrick Stewart and wife Joni, Slater, IA; mother Wilma Stewart, Creston, IA; sisters Rayma Ripperger and husband Dan, Afton, IA; Ramona Landers and husband Rick, Lorimer, IA; brother Robert Stewart, Sheldon, IA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
