Kenneth E. Stowell

November 13, 1916 — April 6, 2004

Kenneth E. Stowell, 87, of Lee�s Summit, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Lee�s Summit Hospital. Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 pm Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer�s Association or the Boy Scouts of America. Ken was born November 13, 1916 in Valley City, ND to C. Ed and Mabel (Adams) Stowell. Mr. Stowell was an Eagle Scout, President of the Quivira Council of the Boy Scouts and a recipient of both the Silver Antelope and Silver Buffalo awards. Ken was co-founder of the Wichita Home Builders Association and built the 1st solar home in Wichita along with Coleman Co. and Better Homes and Gardens. In addition, he built several feature homes for publication in Better Homes and Gardens. Mr. Stowell was a Rotarian, an avid pilot and loved spending time hunting and fishing. He was happiest when he was outdoors or building something. Ken was a past member of the board of directors for East Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita. Mr. Stowell is survived by his wife M. Jean (Winn) Stowell of the home; son and daughter-in-law Ken and Jackie Stowell of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren Kenneth E. (Trey) Stowell III, Alexandra Stowell-Long and her mother, April Long, Beth Eisenhart, Amy Coffman, Robert Eisenhart; great-grandchildren Rachel and Jake Morczkowski, Robert Kroulik, Colby and Courtney Coffman; brothers and sisters Florence Erickson (Paul), Richard Stowell (Bert), Eleanor Feiser (David), Clarence Stowell (Betty) and Jean Sinclair. Ken was preceded in death by a son Bradley Stowell and a brother-in-law Lloyd Sinclair.
