John Winslow "Jack" Streator Sr.

June 1, 1946 — April 19, 2015

John “Jack” W. Streator, Sr, 68, passed away April 19, at home surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday, April 24 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; cremation. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Jack was born on June 1, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Emery W. and Lucille (Roach) Streator. He was a 1965 graduate of North Kansas City High School. Jack’s eye for color and texture and his love for clothing lead him into retail sales in men’s clothing. The majority of his career was as a salesman and a manager at Mr. Guy and Jack Henry’s. He loved jazz and the old crooners. His children went to sleep serenaded most nights by Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. He also loved to make up bedtime stories for his children. Most remembered were tales about the Brush Creek Lizard that the kids loved. His love of classic cars led to the hobby of building models, which because of his keen eye for detail were in high demand. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; children and their spouses: John Jr. (Brenda), Staci Venzor (Jesse) Ashley Lyons (Jason B), and Stephen all of Independence, grandchildren Erika Streator (Nathan Thompson), Tiffany Glasgow (Riley), Jason A. and Maiya Lyons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Gateway Church – Mercy Ministries, 5600 SW Woods Chapel Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64015.
