Mary Stringer

Mary Ann Stringer, 79, of Buckner, MO passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 PM Monday, August 1st, at Heart of God Fellowship, 3720 N Buckner Tarsney Rd., Buckner, MO 64016. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, also at Heart of God Fellowship. Burial in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9237 Ward Parkway #300, Kansas City, MO 64114 or Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, PO Box 138, Buckner, MO 64016 (attn: Betty Yates). Mary Ann was born June 14, 1932 in Florence, KS to Alfred and Bernice (Holbrook) Munson. She attended school in Grandview, Arkansas and Norwalk, California, graduating from Excelsior Union High School in 1948 at the age of 15. On August 27, 1949, Mary Ann entered into marriage with Joe Stringer, Jr. who survives. Together they raised nine children. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Chi Omega Sorority. She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, and going to the casino in her spare time. Her family and friends were the center of her life! In addition to her husband she is survived by eight children: Joann Peck of Eagle Rock, MO, Kenneth Stringer and wife Angela of Lee’s Summit, MO, Randall Stringer and wife Cheri of Kansas City, MO, Karen Barksdale and husband Robert of Higginsville, MO, Sharon Gail Stringer of Sibley, MO, Nancy Hudanish and husband Steve of Benton, AR, Phillip Stringer and wife Kimberly of Buckner, MO, Anthony Stringer and wife Sandy of Overland Park, KS; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Johnny Munson and Kenneth Munson, both of Southern California; one step-sister; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Stringer and his wife Paula, her sister, Jean Bolejack, her parents, her stepmother and stepfather, Josie and Frank Rodrigues, and her infant brother, Melvin Munson.
