Mildred M. Strodtman, 93, of Independence, MO passed away March 23, 2012. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Thursday, March 29, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1502 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Mildred was born August 24, 1918 in Florence, MO to Joseph and Alice Schroder. Mildred was very active in the VFW Post 1000, and was Past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She had dedicated many years to the outreach efforts of the post, and helped many veterans along the way. She was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Mildred devoted her life to her family and friends. She often shared the many goodies from her kitchen and her garden with those who knew her. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leland “Buck” Strodtman; and sister, Ruth Ploeger. She is survived by her son, Kent Strodtman and wife Carol; two grandchildren, Shelby and Loren Strodtman; two sisters, Eva Love and Pearl Helman; and one brother, Kenneth Schroder.
