Claudine Summers

September 5, 1922 — March 11, 2013

Claudine O. Summers, 90, Independence, MO passed way March 11, 2013 Services will be 10 am, Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel.
Claudine was born Sept. 5, 1922 and grew up near Tarsney Lakes. She was working at the Lake City plant during WW II when she met her future husband. After the war, she transferred to the Bannister Complex of Allied Signal where she worked until she retired. She was a lifelong Baptist and a member of the Salem East Baptist Church where she served as a bookkeeper for a time. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles but most of all loved her family.
Claudine was preceded in death by her husband Lee Roy Summers in 1981. She is survived by daughter Sandra Gennings, Overland Park, KS; sons Jim Werner and wife Janet, Blue Springs, MO; Ray Werner and wife Judy, Buckner, MO; brothers Lee Phillips and wife Vera, Wellington, MO; Lloyd Phillips, Independence, MO; seven grandchildren; many great--grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
