Patty Summers

Patty C. Summers, 78, of Independence, MO passed away Wed, Aug 12, 2015. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. Mon, Aug. 17th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral to follow at 10a.m. Mon. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Patty was born October 8, 1936 in Caruthersville, MO, as the only child to Thomas Hooper and Acel Imogene (Bonham) Taylor. She graduated from high school and later attended SE Missouri State University. She met and married her beloved John Doyle Summers on November 25, 1956. Together they raised three children. She was a doting mother and wife. Always supporting her family’s needs and participating in the children’s extra curricular activities. That doting love was gifted to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, also. Outside of caring for her family she enjoyed working for Independence Regional, cross stitch projects, family genealogy, and making friends where ever she went. Her family remembers her as caring, supportive, giving, and loving.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and beloved son, Timothy Summers. Patty is survived by son, Scott Summers (Cheryl) of Independence, MO; daughter, Beth Sparks (Brian) of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Jonathan Summers (Erin), Amanda Summers, Travis Small (Emily), Scott Summers (Jenni Stark), Brock Small (Cally), Bryan Summers (Melissa), and Tanner and Emily Sparks; great grandchildren, Ashton and Ella Small, Avery Gosnell, Easton Small, and Jaxson Summers; Patty also leaves her best friend of over 40 years, Connie Liles.
