William H. Summers, 81, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Monterey Park Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice. William was born July11, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph R. and Ruth I. (Gain) Summers. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Summers retired in 1991 after 38 years of dedicated service with Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the Fairmount Christian Cross Trail Kickers and the Independence Horseshoe Pitching Association. Mr. Summers is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Edith (Bartholomew) Summers; brother Bob Summers; half sister Linda Sue Fulton; and by a host of special friends.
