Sun Pae Kim passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2026, at the age of 100, in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born on January 23, 1926, in Chungnam, South Korea, where her journey began.
Sun Pae married her husband, Yi Man Song, in 1942, and together they created their family of eleven. After Yi Man’s passing in 1985, she showed remarkable strength and resilience. In 1988, she took a courageous step to immigrate to the United States, seeking new opportunities and adventures while holding tightly to her roots and treasured memories.
Throughout her life, Sun Pae was known for her deep faith and her unwavering commitment to her family. As a devoted homemaker, she filled her days with sewing, gardening, prayer, and Bible study, finding joy in simple pleasures and nurturing those around her. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, reflecting her belief in love, hope, and community.
Sun Pae is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Tok Kil (Suzie) Dowell, and her husband Wil; her son, Tok Sung Yi and his wife No Kyoung Kwak; her daughter Tok Ja Yi and her husband Won Sup Song; her daughter Soon Hee Yi; her son, Tok Chin Yi, and his wife Soon Hwa Yi; her daughter, Tok Hee Yi; her daughter, Soon Ok Yi; her son, Tok Chong Yi, and his wife Pam, and Young Howe (husband Steve), who was like a daughter to her.
Harlmoni (grandma) is also survived by 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life, and her dear sister, Gi Bae Kim, niece, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom cherished her warm spirit and kindness. She is predeceased by her first child, Tok Soon Yi.
Her legacy will be celebrated during visitation on February 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Sun Pae will be laid to rest in Blue Springs Cemetery at 3:15 PM, ensuring that she rests peacefully among the beauty of nature she so loved.
As we say our goodbyes to this remarkable woman, we are comforted by the memories of her laughter, her wisdom, and the love she shared so freely. Sun Pae Kim’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she find peace in eternal rest.
