Denzel C. Swaggerty, 84, Independence, MO passed away Nov. 10, 2012. A memorial visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Thursday, Nov. 15 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052; cremation. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to NorthCare Hospice, 2900 Clay Edwards Drive, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
Denzel was born Nov. 28, 1927 in Cedar County, MO. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a fifty-year member of Local #314 Sprinkler Fitters Union. He worked for several companies as a sprinkler system installer until his retirement in 1986. After retirement he and his wife, Irene, moved to Lincoln, MO where he enjoyed his favorite pastimes fishing and hunting.
Denzel is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Irene Swaggerty, of the home; sons Bill Swaggerty and wife Cathy, Kansas City, MO; Kenneth Wayne Swaggerty and wife Sherri; Dan Swaggerty, all of Independence, MO; brother Donald Swaggerty, Parkville, MO; sister Vernie Hubbard, Kansas City, MO; grandsons Derek Swaggerty, Kansas City, MO; Dustin Swaggerty, Blue Springs, MO; William Swaggerty, Kansas City, MO.
