Roberta Maxine Swalley, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Maryville, MO. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. Roberta was born June 25, 1929 in Barnard, MO to Fred and Ruby (Ridlon) Baker. She worked for Hawthorne Café, Maibes Restaurant and Walker’s Restaurant over her career in food service. Mrs. Swalley was known to all as “Grandma”. Mrs. Swalley is survived by her children Daryl Swalley and wife Gloria; Connie Curtis; grandchildren Chris Gilpin, Duane, Dana and Dean Swalley; seven great-grandchildren; brother Jasper Frank Baker and wife Geneieve. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband George Swalley; and three sisters and six brothers.
