Sylvia Lake Heaton, affectionately known as Sylvie, entered this world on April 2, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. Tragically, her time with us was far too brief, as she passed away on June 17, 2025 leaving an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sylvie was a radiant little girl, whose giggle and smile could light up any room. She was not just a child; she was a vibrant soul with an insatiable curiosity about the world. She brought a unique perspective to everyday life, reminding us all of the beauty found in simple moments. Sylvie was advanced for her age, having achieved the milestone of learning to walk at just eight months old and piecing together words like "go car, what's this, what is that". One of the only times she really sat still was when she was getting help with putting on her shoes. This meant it was time to go on an adventure. The world around her was an endless playground. Whether it was playing in the park, picking flowers (both dandelions and mom’s house flowers alike), or chasing after bubbles.
Sylvie adored watching Miss Rachel and the Wiggles on tv, where the music and playful characters filled her world with laughter and fun. She spent hours per week wanting to look through each and every book in her bookshelf over and over. Books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? , There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick! and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, were a few of her favorites. Each weekly trip to the pet store was also a thrilling adventure for her, as she would eagerly rush to the fish tanks, mesmerized by all the fishies and point at the hamsters and guinea pigs. In her home, she had a special bond with her cat named Kitty, who always came running to see what was wrong any time she heard crying.
Though Sylvie's time on this earth was short, she enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts for all eternity.
She is survived by her parents, Darren and Sara Heaton; paternal grandparents, Sabrina Heaton and Dalles Heaton (Pat); maternal grandmother, Rita Ditzfeld; great-grandmother, Mary Lou Pierce; uncles, Sean Pierce (Terri), Jesse Thompson, Aran Cantrell (Kasey), Dalles Heaton; aunts, Jennifer Heaton, Rachell Tanner (Joshua), Amanda Martin, Danielle Terwilliger (Joe) and numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins.
Sylvie is preceded in death by her grandfather, Alan Cantrell; aunt, Rachael Thompson and uncles, Alan Cantrell Jr. and Daniel Heaton.
