Tammy Marie Hopper

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Tammy Marie Hopper on Monday, June 29, 2026, in North Kansas City, Missouri, after a brief but courageous battle with liver cancer. Tammy was born on February 24, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Edwin Samuel Hopper Sr and Lula May (Self) Hopper.

Tammy was a proud graduate of Van Horn High School and pursued further education at Rockhurst University, taking college courses that fueled her drive and curiosity. Her career reflected a remarkable adaptability and commitment; she began her professional journey as a network circuit designer for landlines in telecommunications with AT&T in the 1980s, dedicating herself to this field through the mid-1990s. She continued to excel in her work with Sprint, which later became T-Mobile, until the mid-2010s. More recently, Tammy found fulfillment working four days a week as an admitting clerk for Family Care of Independence, where her compassion and professionalism touched both colleagues and patients alike.

Tammy’s life was marked by generosity and warmth - she was someone who instinctively took care of everyone around her. Family and friends knew they could always rely on her nurturing nature, whether during everyday moments or in times of need. Her kindness created a sense of comfort and belonging for those fortunate enough to know her.

Tammy loved to travel, with Maui holding a special place in her heart—each visit serving as a peaceful and rejuvenating escape. At home, her affection for gardening was evident in the splashes of yellow roses and blooming flowers she nurtured with care. Tammy found great joy in the kitchen, crafting memorable holiday meals, heartwarming comfort foods, savory barbecue, and the unforgettable taste of her German chocolate cake. Her creativity also extended to decorating cakes for family and friends, a labor of love always met with smiles.

On quiet evenings, Tammy often immersed herself in television or movies, particularly the house-flipping shows on HGTV - Property Brothers, Home Town, Fixer to Fabulous, and My Lottery Dream Home. These shows brought her happiness and deserved relaxation after days spent caring for others.

Tammy is survived by her brother Edwin Samuel “Ed” Hopper Jr; her sister, Deanna Hopper; her nephew, Edwin Jesse “Eddie” Hopper; her great-nephew, Jase Hopper; her great-niece, Kendall Hopper; and many cousins, second cousins, and friends. Each will remember her unwavering support, big-hearted

spirit, and the countless memories they created together. She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Samuel Hopper Sr; and her mother, Lula May (Self) Hopper.

Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Tammy’s life at a visitation on July 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S in Independence, Missouri. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Mt. Washington Cemetery, 614 S Brookside Ave, Independence, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held the evening of July 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Blue Springs Elks Lodge, located at 100 NE Brizendine Rd, Blue Springs, Missouri. Family and friends are welcome to all services honoring Tammy.

As we say goodbye to Tammy, we honor a life filled with care, dedication, love, and the quiet strength that touched so many. Her spirit will continue to inspire, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who were privileged to know her.
