Florence Pearl (Casey) Tankersley, 94, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Season’s Care Center, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Alzheimer’s’ Association for Research, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601.
Florence was born October 27, 1916 in Oak Park, IL to Edward and Pearl (Kuhlman) Fricke. She married William B. Casey in 1938. They left the Chicago area in 1949, moving to Sturgis, MI where she worked in the office of National Carbon Coated for several years.
William preceded her in death in 1972. Her son, Michael Casey in 1989, sister, Evelyn Newell, and step-daughter, Jean Marie Christmas also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen (John) Skaggs and Patricia Herendeen, both of Independence; step-children, Joan Younger of Independence, Jerry (Linda) Tankersley of West Palm Beach, FL, Jamie (Barb) Tankersley of IA, Janice Havens of FL and Jane (Ted) Keller of Lee’s Summit; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
