The Lord embraced Edith L. Tann-Curtis, 87, of Lake Winnebago, MO, into His loving arms on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at John Knox Village Care Center. Visitation will be 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel with a time of sharing starting at 5:30. Private graveside services in Floral Hills Cemetery. Edith was born January 22, 1921 in Rock Port, MO to Oscar L. and Stella E. (Gaskill) Tann. She was married to Chester R. Curtis on August 20, 1938. Edith retired in 1982 from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant where she was the Chief Procurement Officer and had been awarded many commendations. Both were involved in leadership at Lake Winnebago, holding offices on the Home Owners Association Board, the City Leadership Council, the Yacht Club, and the Gun Club. Edith was the editor of the lake newsletter “The Signal” for two years. After they retired they spent many delightful years traveling. They were “Rock Hounds” and spent time around the country hunting for unusual rocks and semi-precious stones. Mr. And Mrs. Curtis were active members of “Ye Ole Timers Mineral Club”, a world-wide organization called “Y.O.T.M.C.” They were long-time members of the Escapees, a club for RV travelers. Edith was active in the Mt. Washington Eastern Star. She continued to travel to Quartzsite, AZ for many years after the death of her husband, maintaining all of their friendships. Edith was known for her positive attitude and outlook in life. She was very blessed! Mrs. Tann-Curtis is survived by her son William R. Curtis and his wife Dr. Terry Lovelace-Curtis of Maryville, MO; grandchildren Mary “Edie” Brattin and husband Rick of Lee’s Summit, MO, Donna L. Lee and husband Steve of Terre Haute, IN, Rev. Robert B. Stickler, Jr. and his wife Susanne of Rolla, MO, R. Bruce Stickler of Kansas City, MO, Serena Surbaugh and husband Joe Hogan of New Castle, OK, Natale Curtis of Independence, MO; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Chet in June 1992; daughter Patricia Stickler in February 2008.
