Sharon Kay Tarpley, 63, of Liberty, MO passed away Saturday, May 30, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 3 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO. Services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday at the Chapel. Graveside services will then be at 3:00 PM, Wednesday at Centrailia Cemetery in Centrailia, MO. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Sharon was born on April 3, 1945 to Raymond and Ethel Standefer in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Westport High School and lived in Kansas City for most of her life. She was employed by USA-800 for over 20 years prior to her retirement. Sharon enjoyed arts and crafts, including sewing, crocheting, and knitting, being a member of the American Quilters Guild.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 43 years, William “Bill” Tarpley; three children and their spouses: Charles and Vicki Tarpley, Michelle and Brian Smith, and John and Kim Tarpley; 11 grandchildren: Dustin, Samuel, Andrew, Matthew, Aaron, Zachary, Jackson, John Ryan, Kirstin, Delaney, and Sarah Grace; one great-grandchild, Ryan; brother, Charles Standefer and wife Jackie; and nephew, David Standefer. Sharon was a nine year cancer survivor. She will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life, being a strong woman who was an inspiration to many. She always enjoyed her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
