Norma Jeanne Tatum, 83, of Raytown, MO passed away November 10, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital East surrounded by her family. Norma Jeanne was born January 6, 1927 in Courtney, MO to William and Grace (Ingram) Bryant. She married James “Bill” Tatum on January 9, 1943 and raised two children. Mrs. Tatum was a faithful member of the Mt. Washington United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she served as President of the United Methodist Women’s group. She was also a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Tatum was employed by the R.B. Jones Insurance Co and by the Carmean Advertising Co. Norma loved spending time with her family and traveling the world. She also enjoyed sewing and various craft projects. Norma Jeanne is survived by her husband of 68 years, James W. Tatum of the home; son William Barry Tatum and wife Joyce of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Patricia Tatum Otstott and husband Dick of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren: Jody Fristoe and husband Daren and Mark Tatum and wife Mindy; great-grandchildren: Adam and Emma Fristoe, and Sam, Marlo, and Penelope Tatum. A visitation will be from 10-11:00 AM Saturday, November 13 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Services will immediately follow, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Norma Jeanne wished that contributions be made to Mt. Washington United Methodist Church, 584 Arlington, Independence, MO 64053.
