Lloyd S. Taylor, 88, of Independence, MO, passed away, Tuesday evening at his home. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the Walnut Gardens Community of Christ 19201 R.D. Mize Rd. Independence, MO 64057 with cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Walnut Gardens Community of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or to Outreach International. Lloyd was born May 26, 1921 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan Canada to Stanley E. and Margaret (Campbell) Taylor and spent his early life in Canada graduating from high school in Loon Lake Saskatchewan Canada. Lloyd lived in British Columbia before moving to Independence in 1958. He worked for Andes and Roberts Construction for 18 years. He then worked as a self-employed contractor and owned and operated Taylor-Choate Construction. He enjoyed playing keyboard, camping, singing and spending time with family. He was a devoted family man who was loyal to his friends and his church. He was a member of Walnut Gardens Community of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris, of the home; a daughter, Irene Dowler and her husband Gary of Independence, MO; a son, David Taylor and his wife Nancy of Grandview, MO; 2 brothers, Clifford Taylor and his wife Joan of Ontario, Canada and Howard Taylor and his wife Joan of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jeannine Smith and her husband Michael, Benjamin Dowler, Amanda Farr and her husband Jon and Scott Taylor and his wife Sarah and 1 great grandchild Jadyn Eisenlohr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Lockyer.
