Jack Terry

Jack C. Terry, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, April 16, 2012. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 125 S. Pleasant St., Independence, MO 64050 or the Salvation Army, 14700 E. Truman Rd., Independence, MO 64050. Cremation to follow. Jack was born November 23, 1919 in Monet, MO to Jake and Florence (Chatterson) Terry. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Jack loved the law, playing golf and pulling practical jokes on family and friends. Mr. Terry practiced law in Independence and served as an election board attorney. Jack enjoyed politics and was in the state legislature in the early 50’s. He taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Mr. Terry is survived by his daughter Susan T. Galewaler; son Philip C. Terry; grandchildren Rose Montgomery, Camilla Meador, Jeffrey Galewaler, Susan L. Galewaler, Ian J. Galewaler; great-grandchildren Ryder Meador, Karli Montgomery, Bailey Galewaler, Laythe Montgomery and Kammarie Garland. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Susan Terry in ’08; grandson Sean Galewaler; and brother Harold Terry.
