Terry Wayne Johnson, affectionately known as TJ was born on October 14, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri. He left peacefully on September 23, 2024, in Centerview, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, cherished memories.
TJ was a devoted family man, drawing immense pride from his family, who regarded him as their steadfast rock. He worked for Penske throughout his career, where he forged lasting relationships rooted in respect and camaraderie. Though he might have been a homebody at heart, his house was always filled with laughter and love, as he enjoyed sharing relaxing moments with friends over a drink or simply enjoying soothing music.
A graduate of Van Horn High School, TJ never let go of the laid-back spirit that defined him. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often seen comfortably nestled in his beloved truck, watching NASCAR, or spending quality time playing with his "toys". These moments encapsulated the essence of who he was—a man who celebrated every small joy, often inviting others to join him in his contentment.
He is remembered fondly by his wife, Patricia Johnson; daughter, Holli Johnson; stepdaughter, Tereasa (Jeff) Hardison; stepsons, Jamie Carter, Joseph Carter; grandson, Tanner Nash; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great grandchildren; his mother, Zella Johnson; sister, Quintah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. The love he crafted in their lives will resonate for years to come.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emmett “Jr” Johnson; his first wife, Sheri Johnson; and beloved friend and stepson, Arvil “AJ” Carter. May the memories they shared continue to spark joy in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind not just a family, but a rich tapestry of love and togetherness, woven through countless moments of laughter, camaraderie, and unwavering support.
As we remember Terry Wayne Johnson, let us hold dear the lessons he imparted through his gentle nature, his laughter, and his ability to find happiness in every situation. A celebration of his life is a celebration of love—one that shall remain ever-present in the lives he touched.
Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to take place at a later date.
