Sugar Creek

Theda Gail Johnson, born on December 10, 1939, in Gallup, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 30, 2025. She was known for her artistic spirit, her unwavering faith, and her deep love for family and friends.

Theda attended Gallup High School, where she fostered her creativity and developed a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Drawing inspiration from her childhood on the Navajo reservation, she continually created beautiful pieces that reflected her heritage and personal experience. Theda discovered her passion for ceramics after taking a single class, which became a transformative experience in her life. Her artistry extended beyond clay, as she also enjoyed creating porcelain dolls and designing beautiful clothing for them. She cherished sharing her creative talents with her daughter, teaching her the art of making outfits for Barbie dolls, a testament to her nurturing nature and her desire to pass along her skills. Her love for gardening, both vegetables and flowers, complemented her artistic endeavors, as she found joy in nurturing life in many forms. A devoted member of her church, Theda’s faith was a guiding force in her life. She embodied the principles of kindness and generosity, touching the hearts of those around her. Her hobbies included crocheting, allowing her to create warm gifts for her loved ones, which reflected her caring spirit. Above all, Theda's proudest accomplishment was her family. She adored them deeply, cherishing their moments together and celebrating each milestone with love.

Theda's passing was preceded by her beloved husband, Ernest Johnson; her parents, Ervin and Jenny Adair; her daughters, Candy Peterson and Debra Dubose; and her grandsons, Donald Peterson and Dustin DuBose. Theda's legacy of love continues on through her children, Curtis Pardon (Andrea) and Faun Wyndham, as well as many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Theda will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held at the LDS Independence Stake Center on May 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville at 12:00 PM.
