Betty L. Thomas, 80, of Indep., MO passed away Oct. 28, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 10am Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015. Burial will take place in Blue Springs Cemetery. Betty was born on Feb. 26, 1935 in Lowry City to Chester and Opal (Chiles). It was in Montrose that she met the love of her life, Ward Thomas. She was a member of Rockwood Baptist Church since 1959. Betty enjoyed playing basketball and softball on the church teams. She truly enjoyed teaching her young women’s Bible study class. In 1994 Betty retired from Ferguson Supply where she had been the showroom manger. Betty’s greatest joy was that of her family. Betty cooked the Sunday meal for the entire family until her health started to fail. She instilled deep family ties and love with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Survivors include; husband of 62 years, Ward Thomas; son David Thomas (Alison); daughter Ronda Brady (Don); 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and extended family. Betty is preceded in death by; her parents; a granddaughter; 2 great grandchildren, and brother, Ron Snider.
