Charles Allen Thomas, 61, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memory Garden, Independence, MO.
Chuck was born September 10, 1953 in Independence, MO as one of four children to Charles Lee and Marion Jean (Colston) Thomas. He worked for the Painter’s Union Local 2012 Raytown from 1987 – 2004. He married his beloved Lisa (Olson) on August 10, 1985 and together they raised three children. He enjoyed hunting for morel mushrooms, hunting wild game outdoors, riding his motorcycles, and being with his children and grandchildren. His family remembers him as a loving gentle giant as well as an awesome Pa Pa, Dad, brother, and uncle.
Survivors include wife, Lisa (Olson) Thomas; son, Travis Thomas of Independence, MO; daughter, Mandy Gable (Josh) of Lee’s Summit, MO; son, Trenton Thomas of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Morgan and Logan; brother, Donald Thomas of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Linda miller of Independence, MO and Shelly Looker (Dennis Watt) of Kansas City, MO; best friend of 40 years, Denny Gervy; and beloved dogs, Rebel Scooby, Scrappy and especially Grizzly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth (White) Thomas; sister-in-law, Linda Thomas; best friend, Bob Martin, and dog, Harley. We ask anyone who rides a motorcycle to please join us for Chuck’s last ride.
