Donald Lyle Thomas, 57, of Liberty, MO passed away, Sunday, November 9, 2008 at his residence. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Entombment will be in Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the chapel. Don was born November 13, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Leonard John and Clyda Ruth Thomas. He was raised in the East bottoms of Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1968. He had worked for over 40 years as a drywall finisher as a member local #1594 and had also served as the financial secretary and as an instructor for DC 3 Painter and Allied Trades apprenticeship program. Don enjoyed motorcycling, golfing and spending time at Lake Pomme de Terre with friends and family. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Galmey, MO. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1970-72 and was wounded while aboard the USS Warden. He was a loving husband to wife Patti, proud father of his son Troy Thomas and his wife Deana and his wonderful daughter, Molly Thomas all of Independence, MO, he was protective of his twin brother Ronald Thomas of Independence, MO; his sister, Sandra Wilson of Independence, MO; his loving mother, Clyda Ruth Thomas of Liberty, MO; 2 grandchildren, Justice Cole Thomas and Phoenix Rose Thomas and nieces and nephews.
