Thomas “Micky” J. Finn, 83, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on January 02, 2024, in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 09, 1940, in Amboy, IL to Raymond and Eileen (Carlson) Finn. Micky graduated Lees Center High School and from there went on to Carthage College in Illinois, where he excelled in football for the school. After graduating he attended the University of Wyoming to get his masters, then went on to teach high school and coached basketball and football. Micky then began his career in claims and managed Milwaukee and Dixon locations, as well as many satellite offices. He worked with USF&G insurance company for 34 years and proudly retired early in 1998. Micky wed Harlena "Sam" Spratt on September 14,1973 in Quincy, IL. Micky served as president of the Lost Nation Lakes and Ridgewood Hills Homeowners Associations and was also a member of the Lion’s Club in Dixon, IL.
Micky was a great storyteller and was the light of any room he entered; he had a big, vibrant, and bold personality. He loved golfing, boating, and hunting, and took great pride in working on his homes. Micky enjoyed dancing and had some interesting moves; The chicken dance being his most publicly danced. Micky never met a stranger, even at his favorite store, Costco, he could be found making friends in the aisles. He loved going to the gym and went until he was 81 actively, making friends of course along the way. His huge heart showed in his love for animals, he loved them, and they loved him right back. Micky was a very faithful husband, father, and grandpa. He loved nothing more than his family. Micky was one of a kind and lived his life walking to the beat of his own drummer.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years – Harlena “Sam” (Spratt) Finn, children; Shannon Finn, Kelli Finn, Jeff Finn (Amy), Brad Finn, and Heather Huffman (Greg), grandchildren; Taylor Finn (Joe Johns), Kelsey Swailes (Zach), Lauren Ferger, Riley Finn (Tayden Patterson), Logan Ferger, Sam Schaible, and Finnley Schaible, two great granddaughters Zoey Johns and Wren Swailes, two beloved dogs Abigail and Josie, as well as many sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Eileen Finn, two sisters Anita Boland and Donna Fransen, and many beloved pets.
A visitation for Micky will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 6, 2024, at Speaks Suburban Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Dementia Society of America in Thomas’ name.
