Roy S. Thomas, 88 of Lee’s Summit, formerly of Independence passed away Fri. Apr. 4, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 am, Mon. Apr. 7, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Burial in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 �" 6:00 pm Sunday at the chapel. Mr. Thomas was born on Feb. 12, 1920 to Oscar and Eva (Keltner) Thomas in Camden County, MO and had lived in Climax Springs before moving to Independence several years ago. He had worked for Blair's Cedar and Novelty in Camdenton, MO for 16 years, retiring in 1984. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended the Blue Ridge Assembly of God Church and was an Army veteran of WWII. Roy was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Summer Buckley, two brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy (Park) Thomas, a daughter, Judy Engle and husband John of Independence. A brother, Alonzo Thomas of Raytown, MO; a sister, Jean Grundy of Pine Bluff, AR, grandchildren, Brad Buckley and wife Mitzi, Shayna Davis and husband Nathan and Jeff Engle. Four great grandchildren, Cody and Cady Robinson and Sydney and Lily Buckley.
