Thomas Lee Wall, 81, of Independence, Missouri peacefully passed away February 15th, 2025, while surrounded by his closest family at KU Hospital.
Tom was born on February 3rd, 1944, to Hazen and Vera Wall in Alton, Illinois. After graduating from Wood River High School in 1962, he attended Southern Illinois University to study Urban Planning and Development.
While in College, he was drafted to serve in the United States Army. He served from 1966 to 1969 while stationed in Alaska.
Tom worked for the Social Security Administration in Kansas City, Missouri and ultimately retired in 1997.
After retirement, Tom and Shirley spent time together buying, collecting, and selling antiques and collectibles at the Brass Armadillo.
From a very early age, Tom loved to play pool. He carried this with him into adulthood and participated in many pool leagues and tournaments.
Tom loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was always present at their events, ball games, school outings, and big life moments. His annual “Coin-Country Matching” game was a highlight of the family Christmas and looked forward to each year by all.
He was preceded in death by his father Hazen and mother Vera.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Wall, brother Jim Wall, son Ed Wall, daughter Colleen Hedberg (Marty), daughter-in-law Courtney Wall, grandsons Nathan Wall, Blake (Sydney), Keith, and Grant Hedberg, granddaughter Heather Wall, and great-granddaughter Hazel Hedberg.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
