Cremation with inurnment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends are invited to the First Christian Church, 126 S. Hudson, in Buckner, MO immediately following the service to celebrate Bill’s life. Bill was born December 31, 1948 in Miami, FL to Bart and Mary Etta (Lincoln) Thompson. He was raised in Kansas City, attending school in Kansas City and Boys Town, Nebraska. Due to his battle with diabetes and dialysis treatments, Bill retired from Mt. Olivet Cemetery after 20 years of dedicated service. Not only did he have the privilege of working along side his sons and other family members, he made lasting friendships with his work family. Bill enjoyed many years of fishing, deer hunting, playing poker with friends and spending time at his beloved cabin at the lake with his family and friends. Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pat (Myers) Thompson; sons William Thompson, Jr. (Robin), Christopher Lee Thompson (Bridy), daughter Janice Marie Zehnder (Brad); beloved grandchildren Aaron, Taylor, Tyler, Sara, Kailee, Jessie, Nick, Madison, Abby, Kim, Morgan, who will miss him terribly; brother Bart “Tommy” Thompson; a true friend, always there for Bill, John “Daniel” Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James “Jimmy” Thompson. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Even though we cry tears of sadness as he leaves us behind, we cry tears of happiness that he is free from his pain and suffering here on earth and is now in the loving arms of God. We love you Bill!
