Sue Thompson

Sue Elizabeth Thompson, 56, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Sue was born April 20, 1954 to Robert and Delma (Mullis) McGhee in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Raytown High School and then Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. Sue was united in marriage to Greg Thompson on January 2, 1976 and together raised two children. A loving and generous woman, Sue put her family and friends before herself. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her for her soft heart and gentle nature. Sue is survived by her husband, Greg Thompson; son Brian Thompson and wife Teri; daughter Callie Shelton and husband Josh; grandson Owen Shelton; two expected grandsons; three brothers: Doug McGhee and wife Susan, Mike McGhee and wife Debbie, and Tom McGhee and wife Lisa; and a host of extended family and many friends. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 21 at the First Baptist Raytown, 10500 E. 350 Hwy, Raytown, MO with visitation to follow from 2:30-4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, MS Society or First Baptist Raytown.
