William James “Bill” Thornton, 95 of Sibley, MO passed away, Monday, September 19, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. Burial will follow in the Park Ridge Cemetery in Marshall, MO. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Bill was born September 24, 1915 in Marshall, MO to Harry and Lavina (Ainsworth) Thornton. He had worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Teamsters Local #41 in Kansas City, MO for a number of years before he retired from Middlewest Freightways in 1975. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with lawnmowers, music and gardening. He was a long time member of the Sibley Lions Club. He was married to Lottie Thornton, until her passing in 2002. Survivors include; a daughter, Judy Rash of Sibley, MO; 5 grandchildren, David Clause, William Clause, Christine Bond, Dennis Clause and Timothy Rash; 16 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Clause in 2010.
