Russell B. Timmons, age 75, Blue Springs, MO went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 23, 2008 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He was at home and surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Mr. Timmons was born on Feb. 23, 1933 at the farm home located north of Wheeling, MO. He graduated from Hale High School in 1950. He then attended Chillicothe Business College and later attended K.C. Junior College, the University of Missouri at Kansas City and later graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Industrial Management.
Russell retired in 1990 from Butler Manufacturing Co. after thirty-five years. After his retirement he pursued his love of sheep and gardening. For seventeen years he took meticulous care of his farm and purebred flock.
Russell served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He met and married Addie Jewell Dukes in 1955. She preceded him in death in 1984. To this union two children were born, a son Wayne and a daughter Cathy. In 1985 he married Marilyn (Medley) Henry who survives of the home. Russell accepted the Lord as his Savior at age nineteen and has served Him since. He has been a member of Maywood Baptist Church since 1956 and has served in many capacities including deacon. He has been an active member and leader of Boy Scout Troop 201 of Maywood Baptist Church for over forty years and is a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Russell leaves behind his wife of twenty-three years, Marilyn Timmons, of the home; son Wayne Timmons, Independence, MO: daughter Cathy Long, Butler, MO; step-daughters Rhonda Dye and husband John; Carla Rose and husband Bryan, all of Buckner, MO; brothers Paul Timmons, Twin Falls, ID; Bennie Timmons, Chillicothe, MO; Cecil Timmons, Wheeling, MO; sisters Mildred Wilburn, Chillicothe, MO; Shirley Forsythe, North Kansas City, MO; Marilyn Harman, Carrollton, MO; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed!
Services will be at 10:30 am, Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 4 �" 6 pm, Sunday Oct. 26 at the funeral home. A graveside service will take place at 3:30 pm, Monday at the Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Maywood Baptist Church Memorial Fund. The family would also like to thank The Kansas City Cancer Center East and the Kansas City Hospice teams for the excellent care you provided for our loved one.
