Edwin Burdett Tordoff, 81, Independence, MO passed away, Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center.
Memorial services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Blue Springs Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The family will greet friends from 9:00-10:00 am Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gathering Place.
Mr. Tordoff was born June 11, 1927 in Richmond, CA the son of Joseph Burdett and Regina (Morton) Tordoff. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and was stationed in the South Pacific. Edwin moved to the Independence area with his children in 1971. He attended night classes at Central Missouri State University and received his Associates Degree in Business from Graceland College. Edwin retired in 2008 after 57 years as an Optimist for Gerry Optical. Edwin was a member of the Blue Springs Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he was an Elder with the church. He also played the organ and was a member of the Auditorium Chorus. He was a long time member of the Heart of America Barber Shop Chorus and performed with the Independence Messiah for many years. Edwin enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go camping and he always had a bear story to tell. He was an avid photographer, and traveler. He married Madelyn Farley on December 26, 1971 in Independence, MO. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include his children David Tordoff of WA; Dan Tordoff of CA; and Betty Carter of MO. 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his sister Lois Hall of TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John Tordoff.
