Tristan Kyle Gillespie

Tristan Kyle Gillespie, 42, of Baldwin City, KS, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on Wednesday evening July 29, 2026, leaving behind hearts forever changed by his love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit.

Born March 27, 1984, in Independence, MO to Roger and Ceann (Forgey) Gillespie, Tristan lived life rooted in patriotism, family, and creative curiosity.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Tristan carried a deep love for his country throughout his life. Most recently, he worked as Lead Stocker at Dillons in Lawrence, KS, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Tristan found joy in playing and creating music, building an impressive collection of swords and tactical gear, and exploring technology through computer coding, gaming, and the endless pursuit of learning.

On May 5, 2017, Tristan's heart found its home with his life partner, Kim Sterba. Together they shared nine years filled with love, steadfast support, and countless moments that became treasured memories.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Faye Gillespie; stepdaughter, Vayda Sterba; his mother, Ceann Buffon and Mike Buffon; his father, Roger Gillespie and Ginger Gilbert; sister, Sheena Levin and her daughter Haylo; half-sister Kaylynn Gilbert Gillespie (Alex); stepbrother, Matt Buffon (Lindsay); stepsister Kathryn Buffon; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Though Tristan's time with us was far too short, the joy he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely echoes through the lives of those who loved him.

A Celebration of Tristan's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri, with a reception to follow at The Pentecostal Church in Blue Springs, Missouri.
