Elsie Tryon

Elsie Fern Tryon, 84, Lee’s Summit, MO formerly of Independence, MO, died Dec. 24, 2010 at John Knox Care Center. Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the John Knox Alzheimer’s Unit, 600 N.W. Pryor Road, Lee’ Summit, MO 64081.
Fern was born March 14, 1926 in Worland, MO. Following graduation from high school she moved to Independence where she spent the rest of her life. She married Walter Tryon on June 17, 1944. They owned Rapid Car Wash on 24 Hwy. She was a member of the Community of Christ Blue Ridge Congregation. She and Walter also volunteered at Independence Regional Hospital. She was and excellent cook and enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband Walter Tryon, Sr. in 2000 and eight siblings. She is survived by son Walter L. Tryon, Jr., Plymouth, MA; daughters Victoria C. Neet, Alpharetta, GA; Thyra F. Martin, Independence, MO; sister Dorothy Kindrick, Warrensburg, MO; seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
