Lucille L. Twente, 83, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, February 2nd 2013. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5th at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street, Independence, MO. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6th at East 39th Community of Christ; 15006 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055.
Lucille was born August 18th 1929 in Blue Springs, MO to John Arthur and Zenia (McElwain) Stowell as one of eight children. She attended William Chrisman High School. She married Elden K. Twente and together they had four children. Lucille worked for Nelly Don’s Garment Company for many years. As a talented seamstress she made wedding dresses for many family members. From 1961-1988 she worked for Englewood Cleaners in their alterations department. She was also a talented cook. As a life long member of the RLDS/Community of Christ Church, she was the head of the kitchen for their home congregation. Elden and Lucille enjoyed traveling and participating in the Knife and Fork Club.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Elden of the home; son, Darrell Twente and wife Michele of Gahanna, OH; son, Ronald Twente and wife Susan of St. Peters, MO; daughter, Connie Baldwin and husband Edward of Concordia, MO; daughter, Diann Cavallaro of Independence, MO; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to Kansas City Hospice; 9221 Ward Pkwy, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.
