David Allen “Dave” Tyson

David Allen Tyson of Independence, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, he was 60 years of age.

Dave was born on April 5, 1962, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Robert R. and Judith (Still) Tyson. He attended Independence schools during his entire education career as a child. He attended William Chrisman High School, graduating in the class of 1980. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in 1984 and a Master's degree in 1985 both from Central Missouri State University, where he also worked in the Intramural Department after attending his classes. Following his graduation Dave worked as an Environmental Engineer for A&E Environmental Inc. before transitioning to Lockheed Martin under contract to the Federal Aviation Association. He retired in 2019. Dave was very active in his life and a member of several associations and boards. He was the chairman for his 2022 high school reunion group and served on a City of Independence committee for vacant housing. He was a KC Tiger Club member where he served on the Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors for the Central Auto Racing Boosters. He was an enthusiastic sports fan. His favorite teams were the MU Tigers, K.C. Chiefs, Royals and of course Sprint Car Racing. Dave participated in steel tip dart tournaments. He enjoyed Tuesday “ShoesDay” where he would play rounds of horseshoes with a group of friends. In the summer he often played cornhole with his son on the driveway. He met almost daily for breakfast and coffee with his dear friends as well. He enjoyed listening to classic rock. Dave was a huge animal lover, even feeding stray cats he had come to love, when he would have his breakfast, they would have theirs. He enjoyed caring for animals of all kinds as well as caring for and having such a positive impact on his friends and the surrounding community. It is obvious that Dave was a wonderful human being to all he came in contact with, the biggest impact he made though was to his family whom he loved incredibly; and he was incredibly loved back. Dave’s loss will be greatly felt and he will be terribly missed by family and friends.

Dave is survived by his son, Charlie Tyson; mother, Judy Tyson; many extended family and dear, dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Tyson.
