Donn Umphreys Jr

Donn Bruce Umphreys, Jr., 51 of Buckner, MO passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his residence. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Speaks Buckner Chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Fort Osage Fire Protection District 400 E. Monroe St., Buckner, MO 64016. Donn was born March 6, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to Donn and Lelah Nadine (Miller) Umphreys, Sr. and has been a lifelong area resident. He had worked for the KCP&L, formerly Aquilla, power plant in Sibley for a number of years as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed cooking, model building and most of all spending time with his family. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1979-83. He is survived by his wife, Tammy of the home; 5 sons, Aaron Wright (Vanessa), Michael Williams, Nathan Umphreys, Anthony Weber and Jesse Lee Umphreys; an adopted daughter, Alice Newberry; his mother, Nadine Umphreys; 2 sisters, Gale Norris (Curtis) and Deloris Carter (Ed) and seven grandchildren.
