Service 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 at the chapel. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Vivian Louise Vail left this world to be with her King October 29th, 2015 at the age of 81. Vivian was born in 1934 to Goldie Irene (Johnson) and Nolan Eugene Vail in Fairmont Missouri on October 24th. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her nephew Timmy, brother Eddie and sister Wanda. She is survived by her loving sister, caregiver, and best friend, Bertha Hockman and her beloved older brother, Danny (Wanda).
In her later years Vivian took up photography focusing on fall trees, painting, and scrapbooking to record her life. Her family agrees that her life’s history was as colorful as she was. Vivian looked back fondly on her days in school graduating from Rock Creek Grade School, Palmer Junior High, and from William Chrisman High School in 1952. After school she went to work for Business Men’s Assurance where she worked for 35 years. She retired as Supervisor of Key Punch Data Entry at BMA in 1987. She then worked for the Salvation Army Independence Corps for 11 years, retiring...twice. She served her Lord faithfully as a Sunday School teacher for forty five years. Vivian loved Autumn and taking long drives admiring the fall leaves, a joy she shared with her sister, her nieces, and her great nieces. She traveled often with friends and family and enjoyed her annual trips to Branson with the Home League Ladies. She was one of the founding members of The Annual Ladies Shopping Day, a tradition in our family that has lasted for 27 years.
Vivian was a beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews. She provided constant, valued support in the raising of Tracy Leach (Gil), Terri Dixon (John), Sherii Parrett (Roger), William Hockman, and Donald Hockman. She leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who call her their favorite. She has left them with several fond memories, funny stories, and warm places in their hearts. ‘Til the very end she kept them laughing and ‘kept ‘em guessing’.
