Floyd James Van Dolah, Jr., Raytown, MO passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Floyd was born March 13, 1931 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Floyd J. Sr. and Thelma (Owens) Van Dolah. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post #21. Floyd retired in 1988 from the U.S. Postal Service after serving as manager. Floyd was a member of the Mother Preceptory DeMolay Legion of Honor; Blue Springs Masonic Lodge #337; Blue Springs Shrine Club; Scottish Rite Temple, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason; the Ararat Shrine Temple; and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court #54. Floyd enjoyed traveling and going on numerous cruises, he especially loved having family dinners. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Webb and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife Dorothy; daughter, Pam West and her husband Bill; son, Chris Van Dolah and his girlfriend Patti; step sons; Gregory Elliston, David Wright and his wife Mary, Guy Wright and his wife Peggy; grandchildren, Aaron and Madison West, Tim Lopez, Nicole Simms, A.J. and Sarah Wright; six great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Farajat; brother, Joseph Van Dolah and his wife Terrie; last but not least his beloved dog, Barney BA.
