Verna Ruth Van Dyke, 90 of Buckner, MO passed away, Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams St., Buckner, MO 64016. Burial will follow in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to Anchor Point Baptist Church 25501 E Bundschu Rd, Independence, MO 64056. Ruth was born December 6, 1922 in Onamia, MN to Martin and Mary Jane (Board) Covel. She spent her early life in Onamia and has lived in Buckner, MO since 1953. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading. She was a member of Anchor Point Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Buckner. She is survived by; 3 daughters, Dorothy Mohler and husband Phil of Lee’s Summit, MO, Mary Jane O’Toole and Julie Buckallew and husband Ron all of Buckner; a sister, Edith Koopman of MN; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Clark Van Dyke in 2007, a daughter, Ruth Ann Eaton in 1996 and a granddaughter, Kelly Davidson in 2010.
