Lawrence “Lee” Vasquez 71 of Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 600 North Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050 with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. There will be a rosary at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Jude’s Hospital. Lee was born July 7, 1940 in Red Wing CO to Ruben and Alivinia (Cardenas) Vasquez. He had worked for over 37 years as a sheet metal mechanic for TWA/American Airlines until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed photography, traveling, keeping fit and loved to tinker and fix things. He was a member of the IAM (International Association of Machinists) local #1650. He is survived by; 3 daughters, Cheri Rice (Denis) of Aurora, CO, Kimberly Redford of Independence, and Mary Freeman of Montana; 2 sons, Darrel Hendricks of Aurora, CO and Ray Vasquez (Kim) of Blue Springs; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Aaron, Loren, Heather, Natasha, Anthony, Devon and Travis and 3 great grandchildren, Carmen, Riley and Austin.
