Lorraine Mae Vaughan, 85, Independence MO passed away July 3, 2015. Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday., July 7 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. The family requests contributions to the Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 S. 291 Hwy., Independence, MO 64055. Lorraine was born Aug. 10, 1929 in Louisville, KY. Her family moved to the Independence area in 1936 and she attended Northeast High School. She was the head cashier at the Kroger/Thriftway Grocery Store at 24 Hwy. and River Blvd. and worked there for 35 years and retired in 1992. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird-watching and cooking. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband William Vaughan in 2013. She is survived by son Bill Vaughan, Independence, MO; daughters Connie Rehm and husband Bill, Savannah, MO; Vicki Stewart and husband Les, Knob Noster, MO; sister-in-law Renee Butts, Independence, MO; grandchildren Sara Rehm, Kansas City, MO; Catherine Bauman and husband Peter, Stephanie Mullen and husband Josh, all Independence, MO; Andrea Clark and husband Robert, Alexandria, VA and great-grandchildren William, Makenna and Madi.
