J.L. Vickrey, 79 went to meet the Lord after a long illness with his heart on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Visitation will be 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday at the Foot Hills Baptist Church 19935 Highway #5, Mountain View, AR. Burial will follow in Fifty-Six Cemetery in Fifty-Six, AR. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Friday at the church in Arkansas. He was born on May 17, 1936 in Allison, AR and has been a resident of Kansas City for the past 60 years. He worked for Davis Paint CO., of NKC, SpaceCenter in NKC and Associated Wholesale Grocers of KC, KS. He then retired to open his own asphalt company MoKan Asphalt and Construction. He leaves behind his wife Jackie Vickrey of the home, a son, Mike Vickrey of Liberty, MO a daughter, Denise Vickrey Stagner of Belton, MO, step daughter, Wendy Swatosh of Liberty, MO, 5 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren 4 sisters, Velma Trammell of Liberty, MO, Flossie Hale and Willadean Noland both of Mountain View, AR and Betty Vickrey Crawford of Calico Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeke and Lena (House) Vickrey, 4 brothers, Dale Vickrey, Hale Vickrey, Z.L. Vickrey, Gale Vickrey and a sister, Faye Vickrey.
